Influential changes of international relations have laid a groundwork for the emergence of new horizons in the global order in international affairs. As a result, it seems to be essential for the governments to adopt bilateral relations to join this process of globalization. As one of the innovative medical universities in the north of Iran, Guilan University of Medical Sciences possesses outstanding potential for research and educational collaborations. In order to offer the highest standards of teaching, promote international education programs, celebrate multiculturalism through diversity, and create opportunities for students encouraging the development of a global outlook, the International Affairs Department of Guilan University of Medical Sciences has been established since 2016. Among the main objectives are building friendly connections with overseas universities and other organizations, opening up new opportunities to advantageously utilize resources and overseas markets, expanding joint research and educational activities, attracting and training foreign students, and developing health tourism.
