Dr. Shahrokh Yousefzadeh-Chabok completed his neurosurgery training at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Iran. He has conducted extensive research on brain and skull base tumors, pituitary tumor neuroendoscopy, brain neuroendoscopy, and complex spinal cord surgeries. Yousefzadeh-Chabok served as director of Poursina Hospital from 2004 to 2012, the main trauma referral center in Guilan Province, northern Iran. In 2002, he established the Guilan Road Trauma Research Center (GRTRC), focused on road trauma to develop a trauma system as a practical solution to reduce traffic accidents in Iran. The trauma system plan was tailored to current models used in developing countries, addressing one of the country’s major health challenges—road accidents that threaten thousands of lives.
Dr. Yousefzadeh is also a member of the Board of the Neurological Society of Iran. Passionate about scientific and educational activities, he serves as editor-in-chief of the Iranian Journal of Neurosurgery, affiliated with the Neurosurgical Society of Iran. He established the neurosurgery residency training program at Poursina Hospital, Guilan University of Medical Sciences, in 2009. From 2010 to 2021, he was elected to the country’s specialized board of neurosurgery by the Ministry of Health. He served as chancellor of Guilan University of Medical Sciences from March 2014 to July 2018.
