Chemistry and Biochemistry Laboratory

In Chemistry and Biochemistry laboratory unit of this school, Nursing and Midwifery students get acquainted with equipment of biochemistry experiments and their utilization, principles of dilution, spectrophotometer uses, measuring blood analytes such as FBS (Fasting Blood Sugar), Triglyceride (TG), Cholesterol, etc. Flame photometer, Spectrophotometer, Centrifuge, Oven, Sensitive Digital Scale, pH Meter, Digital Autoclave, Chemical Fume Hood, Circulation Bain Marie and ELisa reader are some of the equipment available in the laboratory.

Microbiology And Parasitology Laboratory

Microbiology and Parasitology practical courses for different fields are taught in this laboratory. Some of the services offered in Microbiology laboratory include: staining and observation of microscopic slides of bacteria, preparing various cultivation environments, cultivation and isolation of bacteria and colony counting, culturing on some selected media and performing some enzymatic and biochemical methods and methods to determine the sensitivity of bacteria to antimicrobial compounds.

In Parasitology laboratory, students learn how to stain and expand the patient sample and flotation sedimentation methods in diagnosis; observe different types of parasites and parasites’ pathogenic eggs as well as different types of blood and tissue protozoa.

Microbiology and Parasitology Laboratory is equipped With Laminar Flow Hood, Digital Auto Clave, Incubator, Centrifuge, And Microscope.

Hematology, Immunology & Serology Laboratory

• Hematology

Students learn syllabus of hematology course in this laboratory including: 1. principles of blood sampling, 2. An introduction to the principles of morphological examination and identification of blood cells in normal and pathological conditions and related blood tests (ESR(Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)), determination of HCT(hematocrit test) and Hb(hemoglobin test) and Diagnosis of different types of leukemia(such as AML, ALL, CLL, CML), 3. manual counting of blood cells, 4. quality control Principles to ensure the obtained data, 5. Performing coagulation tests (such as PT, PTT and TT), 6. Blood bank and immunohematology: Determining major and minor blood groups and resolving blood discrepancy, cross match, direct and indirect Coombs, Preparing check cells and AHG (Anti-Human Globulin) quality control.

• Immunology

This laboratory offers the following services: Precipitation tests including Ascoli and SRID (Single Radial Immunodiffusion); Agglutination tests including Wright, Coombs Wright, 2ME Wright and Vidal; Hemagglutination Tests including Cell Type, Back Type, Cross Match; Latex tests; ELisa; Immunofluorescence assay.

Some of the equipment available at the Hematology, Immunology & Serology laboratory include Micro Hematocrit Centrifuge, Centrifuge (16 tube and 24 tube), Microscope, Cell Counter and Circulation Bain Marie.
