International Day of Radiology

On November 8, medical imaging professionals around the world will celebrate the 14th International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2025). Radiologists, radiographers, radiological technologists, related healthcare professionals, and patient groups are invited to recognise and promote the essential role of radiology in the patient journey.

The International Day of Radiology aims to enhance awareness of the value radiology contributes to safe patient care and to improve public understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiographers play in the healthcare continuum.

This occasion highlights radiology’s transformative impact on modern medicine, including earlier detection, reduced need for surgical interventions, and significantly improved treatment outcomes. It also serves as an opportunity for radiology professionals to reflect on these contributions.

Imaging experts and interested participants worldwide are encouraged to acknowledge radiology’s pivotal role in active patient care and to reflect on their ongoing efforts in the field.

Individuals and organisations — including national radiological societies, radiological subspecialty societies, radiographer and allied sciences societies, imaging departments, and patient groups — are invited to share impressions of their IDoR 2025 activities. Photos from workplace celebrations, accompanied by brief descriptions, may be sent to IDoR@myesr.org or shared on social media using the hashtag #IDoR2025.

Radiologists and radiographers are also encouraged to increase the visibility of medical imaging on November 8 by being particularly active on social media and using the official hashtag #IDoR2025. Selected posts will be featured on ESR social media channels.
